SENAIDA (pronounced “Shuh-nay-duh”) is a multidisciplinary artist, sound architect, creative entrepreneur and futurist based in Brooklyn, New York. Through her work as a conscious artist and thought leader, she explores the intersection between art, emerging technologies and spirituality. At the age of 18, SENAIDA founded her first brain-computer interface-driven music venture, MiSynth. Her influences include Grimes, Holly Herndon, Sylvan Esso, Bjork, ALEPH, David Byrne, Yoko Ono, Refik Anadol, Wu Tsang, SKYGGE, Flying Lotus, Jon Hopkins & Lorraine James.
Classically-trained in piano since the age of four, she is a two-time national finalist of the Canadian Music Competition and made her Carnegie Hall debut at the age of sixteen. In 2019, after finding a lack of performance opportunities for youth in the Greater Toronto Area, she founded the Youth Showcase Concert Series in Downtown Markham, an annual summer music festival that promotes local artists and bands under the age of 25. During her middle school and high school years, Senaida attended Havergal College in Toronto, Canada. There, she received the Ancerl Prize for Leadership in Music, was co-head of the senior choir in her final year, and wrote an original score for the school’s production of Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility. She also studied classical piano at the Royal Conservatory’s prestigious Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists and jazz piano at Humber College Community Music School. Her previous musical instructors include Joe Johnson, Michael Berkovsky, Li Wang, Brian Rudolf, Lorne Lofsky and Spiro Kizas. In 2018, she graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music with her ARCT Piano Performance Diploma. She was the principal pianist for the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra from 2018 to 2020.
She currently attends New York University’s Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music at the Tisch School for the Arts, where she is minoring in Philosophy and Interactive Media Arts. She founded the NYU Gender Equality in Music (GEM) Club and is the radio host of "Classy & Sassy" on WNYU 89.1 FM. Her artwork focuses on creating immersive experiences through sound and technology, while pursuing a practice of collaboration, peace and truth.
